We are a International Baccalaureate Candidate School. We are currently in the authorization process. All of our faculty is currently being trained on the IB Primary Years Programme.

Mission of IB

The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.

These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

Our six transdisciplinary themes are:

Magnet Schools are designed to promote diversity, implement innovative and challenging programs, utilize innovative educational methods and practices that will increase student learning, and offer varied programs that will prepare students for both further education and future careers.

Our emphasis at Kit Carson is College Prep, Creative Arts and Technology. Some of the technology our students will be using as a tool for learning are:

- Promethean or Smart boards in every classroom.

- iPod touches (primary grades)
- iPads
- Mac laptops (grades 3-5)
- State of the Art Computer Lab

Empowerment Schools are designed to improve learning and student performance through increased autonomy and accountablility, smaller class sizes, a longer school day and year, and more financial support.
