Families will have the opportunity to "race" from specialist to specialist to learn about and participate in the Chinese culture and learning activities in honor of Chinese New Year.

Participants will follow the clues to each location: Library, Technology, P.E., Art, and Chinese. We will end our evening event with a professional Dragon Dance and a tasting of Chinese food.

Tickets purchased in advance are $1.00 per person or $2.00 per person at the door to cover the cost of the event.

Please note: Kit Carson’s 1st – 5th grade classes are now a part of the Clark County School District’s Magnet School Program. In order for your child to move on into the 1st grade at Kit Carson, he / she must complete an application and be selected during the Magnet lottery process. Once he / she is admitted as a 1st grade student, he/she will be able to remain at Kit Carson for the duration of his/her elementary school years.

      Nevada State Bank plans to donate $20,000 to three public schools in the state that receive the most votes on the bank's Facebook page. The campaign is open through Oct. 14. To vote, "like" the Nevada State Bank page and you will be directed to a voting page. First prize is $10,000, second is $6,000, and third is $4,000. The winning schools will be announced during the week of Oct. 24.

      Here are the steps to follow to vote for Kit Carson Elementary School:

      1. Log in to the following address: www.facebook.com/NevadaStateBank
      2. When you get to that page look on the left side. Below a large box that is labeled "$20K Giveaway" will be an icon to choose that says the same thing. When you click on it, you will be able to scroll down to choose Carson.
